Fully funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development of Brazil, Dr. Santos will use advanced hydrological modeling and sophisticated statistical techniques to investigate:
  • Hydrologic Modeling
  • Drought Analysis
  • Runoff-Erosion Modeling
  • Time Series Analysis
  • Climate Change Impact Assessments
His research will help predict hydrological impacts of land use change as well as inform water resource management decisions.

Fully funded by Brazilian agencies, Dr. Borges will conduct advanced environmental research focusing on the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta. He will use remote sensing, drone technology and multi-scale and temporal satellite observations to investigate:
  • Chlorophyll Concentrations
  • Water Quality
  • Ecological Dynamics
  • Multiscale and Temporal Satellite Observations
His research will advance the understanding of biodiversity patters and ecological health in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta as well as inform management strategies for environmentally stressed deltaic systems.

Alecsander is from the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Santa Maria in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. With an academic background in ecohydrology and biogeochemistry, he will be investigating ecosystem dynamics in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. His research involves:
  • field measurements
  • remote sensing
  • modeling
His research will assess the ecological impacts of land-use change, hydrological alterations, and climate variability.
